The campground had plenty of activities to do. The public restrooms were disgusting. No one bothered to clean them the entire weekend I was there, and I know this because the bathroom stall door had the same bodily fluids from Friday to Monday. Despite the bathroom I would probably go back.
Generally I really like the place. Great location. Rustic. Peaceful. Camping in the midst of trees. Reasonable prices. The wifi is too slow to be any good. The sites can sometimes be narrow depending on where the trees are located, so if you're a novice at driving your rig, you might want a typical parking lot style. I also didn't get a good night's sleep because some very noisy neighbors pulled in late and made a bunch of racket past midnight. The campground says that quiet hours are strictly enforced. Nope. No one came around to hush up these loudmouths.
The cabin is a little bit of need, but I would sit on the screened in porch and listen to the silence. From DC this place is my heaven. Close to Richmond, and Williamsburg.
Spent a month at the cabin 50 ft. from a stocked pond. I love to fish and not only pond but the boat ramp on the lake is 2 mins away. If you want to fish the river 5 mins. away. What a place for anglers.
I stayed here for a long weekend recently and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely helpful when I had a problem with my RV. The facilities are clean and well maintained. They had a band that weekend for those that wanted entertainment but overall it was a peaceful, relaxing weekend. They have a new swimming pool and a restaurant that you can easily walk to. I highly recommend Ed Allen's Campground if you want to fish or just get away from it all.
Have you ever been to a family resort advertising treated like family and you were just a paying customer, not here. I get better treatment here than my family. If you have a problem they are there to solve it. There main job is to make your vacation a memorable one. And I just exprience another one.
I've stayed at the campground twice thus far. First time was with Girl Scouts and they had a blast. It was definitely a great find for a first camp out. We stayed in the tackle boxes and they were a big hit. Beautiful, clean camp and well kept up. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, hiking, and building a fire outside our cabin. They do have a store also and a game room. The second time was with my husband. I really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. I can say the staff there at the campground are amazing! I had an emergency happen and they were there and helped in so many ways that they didn't have to. They felt like family and it was so sincere. Thanks for everything!
